Cryolipolysis in Marrakech: How It Works, Who It’s For, How Many Sessions

Everything you need to know about cryolipolysis in Marrakech before you start: how targeted cold works, who it makes sense for, what a session looks like and how many sessions to plan.

Youssra Mellas ·

Cryolipolysis has become one of the most requested body-contouring treatments in Marrakech, and it is Ice Lady’s signature treatment. Yet the same questions come up in almost every consultation: does it make you lose weight? Does it hurt? How many sessions will I need? This guide answers them simply and honestly, so you know what to expect before you book.

How cryolipolysis works: controlled, targeted cold

Cryolipolysis is based on a simple observation: fat cells are more sensitive to cold than the tissues around them, such as skin and muscle. By applying controlled cold to a specific area for a set amount of time, those cells can be targeted without incisions, needles or anaesthesia.

After the session, the body gradually clears the targeted cells through its natural processes. That is why changes are not immediate: they take shape over the following weeks, as the body does its work.

At Ice Lady, cryolipolysis is part of our cold-based slimming programme, which belongs to a broader cryotherapy approach for both body and face.

It is worth saying clearly: cryolipolysis is not a weight-loss method. It does not replace a balanced diet or regular physical activity. Its role is to refine specific areas that resist despite good habits.

Who is cryolipolysis for?

The ideal candidate is someone close to their comfortable weight who still has one or more localised areas of fat that are hard to shift. In practice, cryolipolysis may suit:

  • women and men whose figure is broadly stable but who have a few stubborn areas;
  • people who want to reshape their silhouette without surgery;
  • anyone targeting specific zones: stomach, love handles, thighs, arms, back or double chin;
  • people who have already started eating more healthily or exercising again and want a targeted boost.

On the other hand, if your goal is to lose a significant amount of weight, cryolipolysis is not the right starting point. In that case, we recommend speaking to your doctor first, who can guide you towards appropriate support.

Some situations are also incompatible with the treatment, including pregnancy and breastfeeding, cold intolerance (cold urticaria, Raynaud’s syndrome, cryoglobulinaemia), a hernia or wound on the area, or recent surgery on the zone concerned. Your eligibility is always confirmed during the consultation.

What a session at Ice Lady looks like

A session usually lasts between 45 and 60 minutes and always follows the same steps:

  1. Consultation and assessment. We talk about your goals, your health history and your lifestyle. This is when we check that the treatment is right for you.
  2. Preparation. The skin is cleansed and protected, starting measurements are taken, then the applicator is positioned on the chosen area.
  3. Controlled cold. For the first few minutes the cold feels intense and you may notice a pinching or pulling sensation. The area then goes numb and the session becomes much more comfortable.
  4. Massage and advice. A massage of the area ends the session, and we give you guidance for the days that follow.

You leave fully dressed and can return to your usual activities straight away. Redness, numbness or mild tenderness in the area may last a few days; this is temporary. Let us know about any unusual or persistent reaction.

How many sessions should you plan?

This is the most common question, and the honest answer is: it depends. The number of sessions varies with the number of areas, the volume involved and how your body responds.

Plans often include one to three sessions per area, spaced several weeks apart. That spacing matters: it gives the body time to clear the targeted cells before another session is considered.

Changes appear gradually, generally between weeks four and twelve. A follow-up appointment, with measurements and photos, lets us review your progress together and adjust the plan if needed. Results vary from person to person depending on the area, metabolism and lifestyle, so we never promise a number in advance.

Complementary treatments: electrostimulation and pressotherapy

Cryolipolysis works best as part of a coherent programme. Between sessions, two treatments can support it:

  • Pressotherapy: air-pressure drainage that supports circulation and leaves a pleasant feeling of light legs.
  • Electrostimulation: muscle contractions triggered by gentle currents, to work on the tone of the treated areas.

These treatments are never compulsory. They are suggested case by case, depending on your goals, your schedule and what makes sense for your body.

Supporting the effects day to day

A few simple habits help sustain the effects of the programme over time:

  • drink regularly, especially in the days after a session;
  • stay active, even moderately: walking counts;
  • favour a varied, balanced diet, without extreme restriction;
  • look after your sleep, which plays a role in your overall balance.

Cryolipolysis is not a magic solution but a targeted tool. Combined with a balanced lifestyle, it can help you achieve a more harmonious silhouette, at your own pace.
